Rare Glycines vase designed by Emile Gallé (1846-1904).
Emile Gallé, the undisputed architect of Art Nouveau, who is joined for historical importance by Antonin Daum, Louis Confort Tiffany and René Lalique, three illustrious glass Masters .
In glass processing, there are many techniques undertaken by Gallè, variations for one-offs: we have an example of the famous 1902 Les Coprins lamp, which in New York in 1990 was auctioned for 1.4 billion lire (for this lamp there are 4 examples but with variants).
Furthermore, on 13 December 2018, again in New York, at Christie's, the "Lily" glass vase from 1900-1903 was sold for € 392.000.
Emile Gallé died of leukemia in 1904 and his wife Henriette Grim temporarily took over the management of the three factories.
The legendary Gallé signature goes through dark times; it is up to 1954, when the most important collection of Gallé glass, which belonged to the King Farouk of Egypt, is put up for auction.
