Alfred Pietercelie was a Belgian artist who was born in Antwerp in 1879 and who died in Jette/Brussels in 1995. He was a painter and decorator. Education at the Academies in Antwerp, Brussels and Anderlecht (1893-1900). Exhibited for the first time in 1917 with the Group L'Oeuvre Nouvelle. Realized landscapes, still lifes, amongst other things. Also worked as a decorator. Initially found his inspiration in Brussels and surroundings. Reduced his designs to the essentials. His works exhale peace, harmony and emotion. Staying in the South of France resulted in a sunny color palette. Occasionally experienced brief periods of experimentation, for example when he began to interpret reality through the dream and the symbolism. Was also influenced by Impressionist Divisionism.
