Our analysis drove to an attribution to Eileen Gray on basis of the associated analysis of the signature and of the portrait itself. Damia was the great love of Eileen Gray and she was most often shown upward gaze with a similar music-hall light comparable here to the one used in her photos. In addition, Elisabeth de Grammont, in an article in "Feuillets d’Art" pointed out that Gray was using « a palette where tawny and nocturnal tones are played out. » Marisa Damia was Gray’s great love in the 1920s. Damia is a mythical name in the history of French song, a diva who left a considerable legacy, which inspired many singers like Edith Piaf.
