A large, leafy tree framed by scumbled washes of pale blue, moss green and cerise dominates this rich landscape by Peter Hoffer. The artist's skilled rendering is reminiscent of the landscapes of John Constable -- Hoffer's use of red is an homage to the British painter who used the colour to represent man. The work is finished with a layer of resin and evokes nostalgia for classical, romantic forms and periods.

Peter Hoffer (b. Brantford, ON 1965) holds a MFA. from Concordia University and degrees from the University of Guelph and the Ontario College of Art. He has lived and worked in Toronto, New York City, Paris and now divides his time between Montreal and Berlin. Hoffer has exhibited widely at art fairs in Basel, Toronto, New York, Stockholm, London, Milan, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
