Robert belongs to a dynasty of painters. After the training from his father, it was in 1896-97, the English decorator Clement Heaton in Neuchâtel & in 1898-99, the Vaud painter Eugène Burnand. From 1899, he continued his training in Florence, then in Paris in 1900. He began at the workshop Colarossi with Gustave Courtois and Raphael Collin, then the workshops of Pascal-Adolphe Dagnan-Bouveret and Luc Olivier Merson, before that in 1902 of Jean-Léon Gérôme & Jacques-Emile Blanche, Rene-Xavier Prinet and Antonio de la Gandara between 1903 and 1906. Back in his homeland in 1907, he became part of the Swiss art scene, while exhibiting several times in Germany. In 1918, he moved to Paris and became involved with A. Ozenfant, C.E. Jeanneret Le Corbusier, André Lhote, Gino Severini and Roger Bissière. International success in the first half of the 1920s. He exhibited at various Parisian salons and contracted with famous Druet Gallery from 1922 to 1928.
