Comments: A highly influential teacher of watercolor. Although not a student of Frank Duveneck, he was considered one of the "Duveneck Boys" in Venice, late 1870s. He returned to Boston in 1882 and spent summers, with Childe Hassam and others, as part of the artist colony at Celia Thaxter"s island home, Appledore, Isle of Shoals, NH. From 1892-on, he made painting trips to Bermuda. Author: Art for the Eye ó School Room Decoration. Other specialties: illuminated manuscripts. Teaching: Mass. Normal A. Sch. (1909-); MIT.
