Comments: Vioget served briefly in the French army and was apprenticed to a naval engineer. In 1834 he was commissioned to lay out streets that are now San Francisco's Pacific, Pine and Stockton. He went into business at Yerba Buena as a hotel keeper. He also made some surveys and maps for General Sutter before moving to San Jose. His watercolor of Yerba Buena in 1837 has been reproduced.
