biografia di Lee GODIE (1908-1994)

Addresses: Chicago

Studied: self-taught

Comments: An outsider artist," she was a toothless, homeless "shoppping bag lady" who produced thousands of oils on canvas in Chicago. In 1968, she began selling her works on the steps of the AIC, and by the 1980s she was one of the most collected painters in Chicago. An eccentric, she stored her paintings in parks and public lockers, and sold them for about $75 each. The subjects were often portraits of beautiful women in an art deco style style, some with photo-booth self portraits sewn on.
