Comments: Daughter of Cephas and sister of Cephas G. and Jerome B. Thompson (see entries). Their artistic leanings discouraged by their father, Marietta and Jerome left home in the early thirties and, after working a short time in Barnstable (MA), settled in NYC in 1835. Marietta is said to have been quite successful as a miniaturist.
