Academic subject reminding the Beaux Arts & Leon Bonnat who brought Tuxen to Naturalism. Following the academy, Tuxen travelled to Paris and studied under Leon Bonnat at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. It was Bonnat who guided Laurits toward Naturalism. After embracing this new style he became freer in handling, lighter in tone and more colorful in his palette. making him very successful with patrons around Europe. Considering the fact that Bonnat died five years ago in 1922, our opinion is a Tribute to his master. The subject of a Greek antique vase evokes a typical academical theme. It is strongly confirmed by the represented characters which one can point out in the subjects of Léon Bonnat as hereafter. Provenance Private collection (Paris suburb)
