PHOTOFAIRS, International
Art Fairs Dedicated to Photography, will open its first US edition in
San Francisco to collectors on Thursday January 26, 2017 at the
Festival Pavilion | Fort Mason, and to the public from Friday January
27 - Sunday January 29. The launch follows the posting of the
strongest ever sales at the third edition of its sister fair in
Shanghai which ran from September 9-11, 2016.
PHOTOFAIRS | San
Francisco will focus on international artists never before seen in
the Bay Area and key photographic talent from the United States’
West Coast.
Set within a highly curated and elegant
environment, the 300 works of art will include a very current
selection of contemporary photographic trends, alongside excellent
examples of carefully chosen blue-chip vintage material.
The
hand-picked US and international galleries include: M97 Gallery
(Shanghai); Flowers (London, New York & Hong Kong); Ratio
3 (San Francisco); Casemore Kirkeby (San Francisco);
Danziger Gallery (New York); Edwynn Houk Gallery (New
York & Zürich); Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery (New York); Three
Shadows +3 Gallery (Beijing & Xiamen); CAMERA WORK
(Berlin), and ROSEGALLERY (Santa Monica).
Alexander
Montague-Sparey, Artistic Director, PHOTOFAIRS, adds: “We are
honored to bring to San Francisco — a city so heavily synonymous
with the photographic medium — a very refreshing, focused and
cutting-edge international edit of some of the best opportunities
available in the market at this time. In a very nurturing, boutique
context, this new platform aims to highlight the wonders of the
medium both aesthetically and intellectually, whilst underlining it
as a tantalizing opportunity for both the new and seasoned
collector.”
