Comments: Welch returned from Europe in 1881 and painted in the Hudson River Valley area. There he met his second wife, Ludmilla P. Welch (see entry), whom he married in 1883. He worked in NYC, Boston, and Philadelphia. He traveled to the Southwest, 1888-89; Australia in 1889; and finally settled in Calif. in 1892. There he found financial success painting bucolic scenes of Marin County. Some of his works were distributed as chromolithographs by Prang in Boston.
