Comments: Born on his family's estate near Moscow, he fled to Kiev from the 1917 Revolution, and later to Berlin, where he worked as a stage designer. In 1923 he went to Paris, and fled Paris in 1939 to settle in the U.S. Known for his almost surrealist renderings of the human body without its skin, similar to anatomical studies. Spent time in Weston, CT at the estate of Alice DeLamar, patroness of Westport artists.
