ART COLOGNE is the world's oldest art fair for modern and contemporary art of the 20th and 21st century. Today's fair annually invites approximately 200 international galleries to showcase painting, sculpture, photography, prints, multiples, installations, performance and moving image art in the city of Cologne, cultural center of the Rhineland region and beyond. The origins of today's ART COLOGNE go back to the year 1967, when Cologne-based gallerists Hein Stünke and Rudolf Zwirner initiated the first Kunstmarkt Köln.

ART COLOGNE has always been a number one address for viewing, enjoying and buying top-of-the-range artworks. In today's fair, approximately two hundred leading international galleries will showcase a carefully selected and curated range of top-quality 20th and 21st century artworks. Art lovers and collectors will encounter a broad range of modern and contemporary art from many diverse movements, in all price brackets, shape and size.

The fair is composed of several sectors. GALLERIES sites established galleries. NEW CONTEMPORARIES represents galleries founded in the 21st century. NEW POSITIONS offers solo-presentations of outstanding young artists. ART COLOGNE has joined forces with the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) to launch a new section titled ‘COLLABORATIONS’. Galleries participating in COLLABORATIONS will showcase a program based on a jointly planned project.

Meanwhile, a supporting program of exhibition openings and events in nearby museums and institutions around the Rhineland make ART COLOGNE one of Germany's must-see events of the year.
