Bank Art Fair Singapore 2015

Bank Art Fair launched successfully in Singapore.

Bank Art Fair was held in Pan Pacific Hotel, in the rooms of entire two floors, which is located in Singapore's art district Marina Square. About 200 artists from 52 galleries in 15 different countries participated in the 2014 Singapore Bank Art Fair.

Pan Pacific hotel had a perfect structure for the hotel art fair. Usually Hotel has their rooms facing each other through the aisle which makes it hard for customers to walk through at the same time and can also give small and narrow impression when stayed for long time. However Pan Pacific has a wide plaza like space in the middle of the hotel. It makes customers feel like being in the big party providing enjoyable, relaxing atmosphere even after long time. 15 different countries submitted art works with exhibitors own personalities, satisfying audiences eyes and catching their attentions.

Wine bars were prepared in both floors to provide comfort for the audiences who are taking time for exhibition making them even more relaxing rather than tiring. Audiences could exhibit and purchase art works in comfortable, easing surroundings. They did not bother with discount as you could probably expected from Singapore's $72,000 GDP which is quite high. Audiences seemed to not care about the price so much when they found satisfying works. Also in purchasing art works, profile of artists such as graduated school or prize winning record didn't seem to matter at all. If Audiences liked the art, they would purchase it in its full price.

At 2014 Singapore Bank Art Fair, especially many young Korean sculptors have participated showing their fresh energy in reasonable prices providing great opportunities for collectors. Numerous pieces were sold encouraging young artists for new creation. KINOSHO KIKAKU Gallery from Japan submitted art pieces revealing their own features as the island country. President of this Gallery, Mr. Sato is a gallerist who fully understand the features of art fair and have experienced number of art fairs all over the world. He showed great manner, selling plenty of art works through the fair. Bonding with gallerist from different countries and exchanging ideas and thoughts are also one of the great accomplishment in participating the art fair. Ishigawa from the Ishigawa gallery is a young gallerist who started a new gallery showing an active move. He seemed to be positive in many ways. He never lost his smile even though sales struggled and succeeded in making some sales on the last day. Art Cuestion gallery and Xavier Roman gallery from Spain showed traditional Spain art works. Art Cuestion has arrived one day late due to personal reason, still participating in full energy but lacked in sales. ASEANA Gallery from Singapore prepared a few works presenting horses as it is the year of horse resulting in selling almost 20 of them. President of ASEANA Gallery is a devotee of art fair. He believes inviting collector or audiences to one gallery space is very passive way of exhibition and ineffective in both time and expense. ASEANA Gallery made great sales result in this art fair thanks to his belief. VIN Gallery from Vietnam has also made noticeable sales. Vin Gallery participated with multinational artists from Vietnam to Japan enjoying the art fair with satisfying sales. TAW WIN Gallery made the best sales records. TAW WIN Gallery sold almost 30 art works showing their own special Burma tradition in aboth art works and their clothes, welcoming audiences in traditional outfit all the time. TAW WIN Gallery submitted figure paintings mostly, painted in special technique using dots, showing great harmony in its colors and structures which is pointed as their reason of successful sales.

Singapore have been independent country for almost 50 years now. Despite their short history this small country is flourishing as you can expect from their $72,000 GDP. Growth in economy often result in revival of art. That is the reason why there are so many art fairs held in this small 3 million populated country. Hosts of art fairs are also vary from Singapore to England to Korean. Therefore each art fair has own specific personalities. Center of these art fair stands the ART STAGE which is held annually in January at Marina Bay convention with many major gallery participants. Also ART STAGE is the biggest event among art fairs in Singapore. Many Major galleries and famous artists from different countries participate. However it is not easy for small galleries or financially lacking galleries to take part. Affordable Art Fair was held annually until it recently changed to 2 times a year and is self rated as quite settled down art fair in Singapore. As you can predict from its name, Affordable Art Fair exhibit and sell affordable, rather low priced art works. There were few more hotel art fair and brand new Singapore art fair which was launched in Suntec City Convention. It is not yet reported about the total sales or number of audiences, but seemed to be not so successful in its first time. Likewise, it is hard to say that 2014 Bank Art Fair Singapore had successful accomplishment in first time due to many insufficient parts. Important part is however that there are so much more to get better. Local media and audiences commented about their high expectations on Singapore Bank Art Fair and both participated galleries and artists are looking forward for the 2015 Singapore Bank Art Fair.
